Dr. David Cooper, M.D. is an ACGME accredited fellowship-trained Interventional Pain Medicine and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialist. He is board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Texas Pain Society.

Dr. Cooper graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in Biology and a minor in Spanish from the University of Central Florida. He attended medical school at the Ponce School of Medicine in Ponce Puerto Rico. Dr. Cooper then completed a four-year residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio, in San Antonio, Texas. He then completed his specialty training in interventional pain medicine fellowship at the world renown MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

 

Dr. Cooper enjoys partnering with patients with the goal of restoring function and improving quality of life. After over a decade in private practice, he is very familiar with the impact acute and chronic pain has on a patient and their family. He seeks to understand and treat each patient as an individual with unique situations, goals, and problems. With this mindset, Dr. Cooper strives to meet patients where they are and help them get to where they want to be.

 

Dr. Cooper pursues a multimodal multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment of patients with acute and chronic pain. His training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation allows his to understand and appreciate biomechanics and the full scope of musculoskeletal problems and disorders and apply appropriate physical and occupational therapy, pharmacologic, and injection therapies to help patients heal. Through his training in Interventional Pain Medicine, he is able to employ a vast array of procedures to help patients regain function through pain control. Dr. Cooper strives to stay up-to-date with new technology, cutting-edge information, and procedures so that he can provide the best possible treatment strategies and options.

Dr. Cooper treats each patient as family. He listens to his patients and seeks to understand their particular problem, and what their individual goals are, and work together to help reach those goals.

Dr. Cooper’s interests outside of clinical care include traveling, running, dancing, water sports, scuba diving, and spending time with his family. Dr. Cooper is fluent in English and Spanish.
